Elizabeth Banks has had an extremely successful decade - from starring roles in The Hunger Games and Pitch Perfect series to acting/directing Pitch Perfect 2 and Charlie's Angels. It's easy to overlook many of the works in her early career, including her inclusion in Sam Rami's Spider-Man series trilogy as Betty Brant.

A hugely underrated actress and director, Banks had far too little screen time as Betty Brant, which is excusable considering Rami's choice to have Mary Jane Watson as Peter Parker's main fixation.

Thankfully, Banks has been featured elsewhere, but for every major box office film that gave her ample time to shine, there’s at least one or two others that left us wanting more.

Elizabeth Banks is a perfect choice to bring into Wilde's Spider-Verse, particularly as a secondary character that can transition over to other films. Should she receive a smaller role akin to Betty Brant, it would at least leave her open to potentially directing one of these films.

If Sony is searching for another female director to helm a heroine-starring film, there are few options better than Banks.
