4. Explosions In Space Will Make A Sound...Or Happen At All

It's rare to find a science fiction film that doesn't make this mistake, which is surprising given that it's the genre above all others that is often singled out for its theoretical plausibility. However, the idea of ships being exploded into a giant fireball in space is flawed from the ground-up; space is a vacuum, meaning that there is no oxygen and therefore no fuel for a fire to begin with. Add to that the fact that any explosion wouldn't have any sound - because sound cannot travel through a vacuum - and you make watching any of the Star Wars films a lot more challenging.
