Don Siegel's classic crime thriller spawned four sequels and countless imitators, thanks in part to Clint Eastwood's instantly-iconic portrayal of antihero cop Harry Callahan. The character's .44 Magnum became just as iconic as the character who wielded it, and there are plenty of people who haven't even seen the movie that could probably quote it verbatim. Harry only kills three people in this movie, which shows remarkable restraint for a man of his personality armed with 'the most powerful handgun in the world'. More than just a standard-issue firearm, the way Eastwood points the gun at the terrified bank robber while delivering the lines with his laconic cool created one of the most iconic moments in a career absolutely loaded with them.
