10 Scariest CGI Movie Monsters
10. The Homunculi - Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark
Troy Nixey's 2011 remake of Don't Be Afraid of the Dark may have gotten mixed reviews from critics, but it was undeniable that he had created something truly scary in his design of the Homunculi. These little monsters live in the basement of the manor house in which the movie is set and desire the teeth of children.
Add to this their creepy whispering to Sally, the protagonist of the film, and they become even creepier. The Homunculi attack en masse as well, and take people back underground with them, turning them into more Homunculi themselves.
Their origin within the movie is unknown, but they don't need to be explained, they are terrifying enough simply existing within the house and desiring the teeth of any children who cross their path. The tooth fairies from hell itself.
Something in their small, monkey-like bodies and their white, dead eyes creates an image that is more than just scary, they are the things of nightmares. The Homunculi are a nightmarish vision of what could be hiding in the ground of your house, waiting for a child to enter.
