10 Sci-Fi Movie Mysteries That Can Never Be Solved

10. Blade Runner

Arguably this is the biggest sci-fi movie mystery of them all, and even a much-hyped sequel didn't help us to answer the question!

The 1982 dystopian masterpiece introduced us to the character of Deckard (played by Harrison Ford), who we believe is hunting down the bio-engineered humans known as "replicants".

The film was deliberately ambiguous about whether Deckard was himself a replicant, and this even proved to be a point of contention between Harrison Ford, and the film's director Ridley Scott. They disagreed, and have subsequently staunchly argued their points on this, Ford believing his character to be human, and Scott arguing that he is a replicant.

Whilst the film, and it's sequel Blade Runner 2049 are not conclusive in answering this, it is this mystery that actually adds some weight to the film's themes. Throughout, we are made to question what it means to be human and what this looks like, so in not knowing the truth about Deckard, we are left to ponder this forever.

We'd still quite like an answer though!
