10 Sci-Fi Movie Villains That Had Totally Lame Deaths
10. Captain Phasma - The Last Jedi
Ahead of the release of The Force Awakens, Gwendoline Christie's Captain Phasma was hyped up as a major player for the impending new Star Wars trilogy. And for elements of that Episode VII offering, Phasma was indeed a key component of the unfolding narrative.
By the time of The Last Jedi, then, it was expected that Captain Phasma would be given an expanded role which would position her as a main player in a galaxy far, far away. Only that wasn't the case.
If people thought Phasma was short-changed in The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi was farcical in how little it used the character. And even more disappointing was in how Captain Phasma was killed off in that Rian Johnson-helmed picture.
Following a brief scuffle with John Boyega's Finn, Phasma has the visor of her helmet smashed up, before the ground below her gives way and she falls to a fiery death. It was bland, it was forgettable, and it was disappointing - which, in hindsight, seems sadly fitting for Captain Phasma.
While there may have at one point been plans to give Captain Phasma a larger role in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, ultimately the character merely became a marketing tool.
