10 Shocking (But Believable) Spider-Man: Homecoming Theories
Seconds out, Civil War, round two... FIGHT!
In many respects, you have to admire the way fans now deal with theories, rumours and speculations on their favourite movies.
In the absence of concrete information, the Internet and fans will now swarm to fill the vacuum. Half-truths, open speculation and spurious garbage are all considered, analysed and hyped, until eventually the cream of the fandom thin out the options to come up with a picture of the most likely eventualities. Such has been the case with Spider-Man: Homecoming so far.
Even then, some of the theories that emerge can appear to be slightly more left-field than others. Some, you might say, are completely bonkers on first impression. But it should be remembered that we're dealing with a Marvel Studios more willing to push the creative envelope now, And if you look hard enough at the whole picture, it's possible to see where some of even the most shocking Homecoming theories could actually be bang on the money.
Here are the most shocking - but actually entirely believable - theories on the next Spider-Man movie...
10. J Jonah Jameson Is A Woman (At Least In Spirit)
The Theory
Despite him not appearing in any of the marketing, J Jonah Jameson's presence will be felt in the film: he's either being gender-swapped entirely, or he's being replaced by an alternate character with the same spirit.
The answer lies in the mystery role of Tyne Daly, who was added late, but is without a character name so far. It absolutely wouldn't be outside the realms of possibility that she is the cynical, investigative sort of figure replacing Jameson.
Just look at the image of her on set...
Why It's Believable
This might be a whole new Spidey world, but it wouldn't be a Spider-Man movie without recognisable dynamics (which is precisely why there's so much debate over who each character is), and having a sort of secondary anti-hero antagonist would be the right approach.
She might not be actual JJJ, but it would be very believable that she'd be in that position, absolutely.
