5. The Headless Ewok

Return of the Jedi (1983)

There are lots of costumes in Star Wars . Regardless, this was one revelation that my adolescent self never wanted to learn - even now I resist temptation to look up pictures of Kenny Baker, Peter Mayhew and David Prouse, because they are their Star Wars characters, who should never be seen without their helmets.

Obviously I'm not dumb enough to have imagined that the Ewoks were real creatures - at least not past the age of 23 - but the sight of this image of Baker, gleeful and slightly maniacal without his Ewok helmet was enough to destroy the last remnants of that magical deception.
