2. Is It Actually Bringing Anything New To The Table?

There are some reasons to be excited for The Batman, but as we've now pointed out quite a few times, the movie feels familiar and not overly different to what we've seen before from this iconic hero on the big screen. You might think that it's hard to do anything new with Bruce Wayne at this point, but if you're familiar with the comics, you'll know otherwise.

It's definitely a good start that Reeves wants to delve into what makes Batman the "World's Greatest Detective," but as enjoyable as that and the Dark Knight matching wits with The Riddler might be, it isn't something that's going to shake up this franchise in a major way.

Imagine a Batman movie with Dick Grayson donning the Cape and Cowl after the death of his father figure? How about an elderly Bruce Wayne attempting to train a new generation in an adaptation of Batman Beyond? This is a character who needs to be reimagined, and making him a rookie who is honing his detective skills is fine, but...well, it's not amazing!
