10. Admiral Ackbar - Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi

Admiral Gial Ackbar is far more than his "It's a trap!" meme. The Mon Calamari is a leader, a tactician, a loyal friend to Leia, and crucial asset to the Rebel Alliance. So, when it was announced the salmon-like fleet commander would be returning for the Disney sequels, fans were over both of Tatooine's moons.

Sadly, The Last Jedi was the end of the road for Ackbar. In the beginning of the film, a TIE fighter blasts the gruff admiral's vessel, casting him into space, where he suffocates to death.

Because he has been in the thick of war for 60 years, it was expected Ackbar would bite the dust by being blasted by an enemy ship. And yet, it still felt unfair since the death of the alien who contributed to The Empire's destruction was barely acknowledged by his friends and allies. They knew him for at least 30 years and yet, never mention his name again after he bites the dust.

This scene is more upsetting when you take into account the actor portraying him, Tim Rose, begged for Ackbar not to be killed off, and cried when he was unable to change the filmmakers' minds.
