10 Star Wars Spin-Offs Gareth Edwards Needs To Direct

5. Darth Bane - Origins Of The Sith

This is a concept that may be too big for one film. However unless we see a trilogy set a thousand years before Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, a spin off movie might be the best place to explore their origins on screen. Darth Bane, a powerful Sith Lord popped up in the final season of The Clone Wars and was mentioned in The Phantom Menace. Palpatine referred to his 'master' Darth Plagueis in Revenge Of The Sith. Both snippets of Sith history. If the dark side of the force returns in Star Wars Episode VII then perhaps now is the time to introduce audiences to the origins of that threat? Back in May, the internet was abuzz with the rumour that the title for JJ Abram's film would be The Ancient Fear, with Max Von Sydow's character as the villain. Now the title is a little too close to 'The Phantom Menace' for our liking but as a working title it may lay the clues for what is to come. A chance to show the origins of the enemy that was behind the rise of the Empire and the chaos that followed? Perhaps with a link to the events unfolding in the new trilogy? The origins of the Sith, with Darth Bane at its head, could be an exciting prospect indeed.
