10 Star Wars Subplots That Went Literally Nowhere

10. The Knights Of Ren

After the sheer disappointment that was the Star Wars prequel trilogy, Star Wars fans were buzzing with anticipation for The Force Awakens in 2015. The marketing machine did its job, as people filled cinemas at the movie's release.

With a brand new trilogy, full of new characters, planets, and storylines, there was a lot to be excited about. Though not at the top of that particular list, the Knights of Ren were one of the more mysterious aspects to the new trilogy, and as with Kylo Ren himself, there was still intrigue and a certain level of excitement surrounding them.

In reality however, the Knights of Ren were as inconsequential as Star Wars characters can get. They were given no backstory, other than that they followed Kylo Ren, and even that was called into question. When Kylo turned on the First Order, the Knights fought against him, so clearly it wasn't their namesake that they were loyal to.

Aside from a couple of appearances, most notably helping Kylo track down Rey on Pasaana, the Knights did very little in the trilogy. They could have easily been replaced with nameless First Order stormtroopers rather than building expectations for something that never mattered.
