A moment in history none of those who witnessed will ever forget, captured in one of the most forgettable films of all time. Pearl Harbour is a by the numbers, deeply unsuccessful attempted heart string puller that had people piling into the pews when it was released in 2001.

The fairly decent titular action sequence does little to cover up the laughably bad dialogue spouted out by the instantly forgettable characters throughout. It is a film that attempts to focus on the human element of the disaster but the performances are so rigid that it never feels like we're witnessing that human side at all.

Michael Bay once again proves that explosions and action are no suitable replacement for engaging characters and a proper narrative as Pearl Harbour fell absolutely flat on its face in an attempt to feed off the success of Titanic. The fact that the movie was released at a time when Josh Hartnett was an apparently viable lead says all you need to know about the film and the audiences that flocked to it.
