Remember how strange and exciting the news of Quentin Tarantino making a Star Trek movie was? Remember how much of a shock it was, particularly with Paramount allegedly seeking to cost-cut for the franchise so much that they were forced to cancel Star Trek 4 when the cast dropped out over a pay dispute.

Well, those are the reasons it won't ever be made. Firstly, Tarantino's idea of a Star Trek film will not be anything like the studio's. Nor will it be marketable on the same scale, because he'd make it R-rated.

And there's a bigger problem: Tarantino hasn't even looked at the script yet and is very publicly talking about the possibility of his early retirement after Once Upon A Time In Hollywood's release. Why would he extend his career to make someone else's movie from someone else's idea to a studio brief? That's not him.
