10 Terrible Films From 2020 (That You Should Still Watch)
10. The Wrong Missy
Realising on Netflix this summer, The Wrong Missy is one of the latest offerings from Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions. If you’ve seen the likes of Murder Mystery and The Ridiculous 6, then you’ll already have an idea of what sort of ordeal you’re in for.
Helmed by Tyler Spindel (Father Of The Year) and starring David Spade and Lauren Lapkus, this film sees successful businessman Tim (Spade) invite his ideal match to a work retreat to Hawaii. However, when Missy (Lapkus) - who he’d previously had a disastrous date with – arrives on the plane instead, he realises that he’s been texting the wrong Missy this entire time.
From herein, this flick is exactly what you’d expect, following every over-done cliché of the trite rom-com playbook. While some audiences found The Wrong Missy entertaining, critics had a different view, with many taking ire with its mean spiritedness and outdated humour.
However, there's one reason why you should watch this film, and that’s to see Lapkus’s performance. She is genuinely funny and gives this role far more heart and energy than it deserves. Making a film this disastrous worth your attention is testament just how talented Lapkus is.
