10 Terrible Movies That Still Smashed The Box Office
10. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2
Young adult fantasy fiction is an entire genre of its own, and is naturally incredibly popular among the demographic it is aimed at. However, once at the top of the tree, the Twilight Saga almost became a parody of itself, and a poster child for everything wrong with said genre.
Starting in 2008 with the adaptation of Stephanie Meyer's Twilight, a new film released every single year until 2012, when the franchise ended with Breaking Dawn - Part 2. Many people were sick of it to begin with, and after such an oversaturation of the market in the years following its initial release, you'd be forgiven for thinking everyone would have been sick of it by 2012.
That said, the final chapter in the saga was a smash hit at the box office. Forget the incredibly shallow plot, the fact that even some of the actors in it couldn't wait to be done with it, and the shocking CGI, for Breaking Dawn - Part 2 grossed almost $850 million worldwide.
The appeal of it being the final chapter of the story may have had something to do with the rise in ticket sales, as the picture inexplicably doubled the intake of the initial Twilight film, but it was still an underwhelming finale to an altogether poor series.
