10 Terrible Movies The Stars Don't Want You To See

5. Sean Connery - The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

It's no secret that Sean Connery can be cold and prickly and that he has very few nice things to say about anything but he was particularly brutal about the film that sent him into retirement. It was no secret he clashed frequently with director, Stephen Norrington on set and the critical failure of the movie made it the laughing-stock of Hollywood and the internet. At the opening party, which Norrington failed to attend, Connery claimed the director was at the "local asylum" and the public mocking was a perfect example of an actor trying to botch his own movie. Of course Connery didn't care as he was paid $17 million for the film. The film was a disaster from beginning to end as Norrington was uncomfortable on a big budget under the close watch of the studio and couldn't handle Connery's ego. Apart from Connery, there was no star-power in the film and box-office success relied on him. The box-office takings were decent but not great and plans for a franchise were scrapped after the negative critical attention and Connery's prompt retirement. Not many actors have shown such outward contempt for their own film whilst it is in the process of release as Connery did with The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
