10 Terrible Sequels To Awesome Films That We Wish Didn't Exist

2. Jaws: The Revenge

Jaws is most definitely an awesome film. It has a giant great white shark terrorising the resort town of Amity. And it takes some brave men to try and kill it. Even then they don€™t all survive the encounter. It€™s simple and effective and Steven Spielberg€™s direction creates some tense sequences that make you genuinely afraid to go into the water. So how they managed Jaws 2 and Jaws 3D is beyond me. Surely this is another case of lightning in a bottle? Each sequel got progressively worse, to the point when the shark wasn€™t so frightening anymore. Certainly not as frightening as he was in that first masterpiece. And then we have the final Jaws film, Jaws: The Revenge. It has revenge in the title because it turns out the unkillable great white shark (or is it a long line of killer sharks in the shark family?) are out for revenge against Brody and his family. Yes. This hulking terror of the seas now has the intelligence to target Brody€™s family. Shakespeare this isn€™t. It€™s a film about a great white shark eating people. And not a very good one.
