Probably the scariest animated film on this list: The Brave Little Toaster isnt like any of the others Ive mentioned. For the most part these kids films were fun and enjoyable, including just one or two frightening scenes; not The Brave Little Toaster. This is a straight up childrens horror movie. From the beginning to the end this household appliance adventure is littered with terrifying scenes. Honestly, Im not even sure where to begin. The variety of horror is stunning for a kids film: including sequences ranging from nightmares involving an evil fireman clown, to terrifying musical numbers sung by deranged appliances, to a scene in which an air conditioner actually goes insane and short circuits himself because hes upset his existence is confined to a wall. All that and I havent even mentioned the Toy Story 3-esque climax yet, or the fact that on their journey a few of the friendly appliances suffer from their own mental breakdowns. Thats some seriously heavy stuff for a childrens movie. Frankly, this is the one film on the list that Im stunned I kept going back to. I cant figure out how I worked up the courage to watch it more than once considering all the crazy horrendous things that happen. But somehow I did and this film remained in constant rotation for a long time.
