10 Terrifying Horror Movie Outbreaks
2. The Bubonic Plague - Black Death
Movie: Black Death 2010
Contracted by: Sinning? Witches? no, try contact with infected insects, rodents, and people.
Symptoms: flu, seizures, hematemesis, painful & enlarged lymph nodes, gastrointestinal issues, death...look, it's not fun.
Cure: Dude, wash your hands! Hygiene, vaccines and antibiotics are key.
The scariest thing about this outbreak is that it wasn't just a movie. The plague was a real thing that wiped out upwards of 200 million people from Europe and Asia. The authorities were convinced that it was God's wraith or witchcraft. They blamed immigrants, the planet's alignment, and "bad air".
Turns out that having your population live in filth with rodents and fleas is not the best idea. This being the 1300's and all...not a lot of access to sciency stuff like vaccines. So you'd best just get away from the population, make sure you've got clean water, and just don't touch anybody who is sick.
