Cure: A vaccine/serum

For some reason, I just don't trust that little monkey in Friends. "Kill it with fire" might slow it down in the jungle, but once this ebola-like virus hits your nice little California town, look out!

A cure could be worked out in a decent amount of time with the right resources and research, but the government really would like a new biological weapon. You'll just have to sit back and hope the scientists figure this one out before the military decides to just bomb your town.
