10 Things About 2000s Movies That Everyone Misses Today

10. Modern Re-Telling Of Shakespeare

Before you get your knickers in a twist, we are aware that 10 Things I Hate About You is technically a '90s movie.

It was released in 1999 which, come on, is basically the year 2000. Cut us some slack, will you?

The reason we're having this debate is because that movie is a modern adaptation of William Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew and its success spawned several other contemporary versions of the bard's classic tales.

She's The Man from 2006 is an updated Twelfth Night. Get Over It from 2001 is loosely based on A Midsummer Night's Dream. There was even a 2001 German movie called Rave Macbeth, which was the Scottish play set in a warehouse!

Truly, the genre that keeps on giving.

Whilst there may have been an overreliance on this back in the day, enough time has passed for Hollywood to start giving Shakespeare the modern treatment once again. These stories have endured for a reason and few decades were better at bringing them up to speed than the noughties.

Unlike the 2010s - the decade that gave us Gnomeo and Juliet.
