10 Things Christopher Eccleston Has Done Since Leaving Doctor Who

Fantastic! Most of the time.

It's been almost 10 years since Christopher Eccleston filmed his last scene as the Ninth Doctor in March 2005. The hugely talented actor, commonly described as "committed" and "prickly", has certainly kept himself busy since then playing a wide range of roles, including the equally talented and temperamental John Lennon in the 2010 TV film, Naked. Not that Doctor Who was the crowning glory of Eccleston's acting career. It was more like just another successful accomplishment amongst many, and a role he's shown no interest in revisiting. To this day, audiences can't forget the host of amazing characters he created previously in films like Let Him Have It, Shallow Grave, Jude and Elizabeth, or his TV roles on Inspector Morse and Cracker. Even his earliest performances in programmes like Our Friends in the North, alongside future James Bond, Daniel Craig, are still fondly remembered. Eccleston's career also contains a roster of sci-fi roles that would be the envy of most actors. Even taking his single, absolutely terrific series of Doctor Who as read, he also crafted incredible performances in 28 Days Later and The Second Coming. Slightly less impressive, perhaps, were appearances in eXistenZ, Gone in 60 Seconds and the Nicole Kidman horror film, The Others. However, all actors have to pay the rent, right? But what parts has Eccleston played in his decade following Doctor Who? Let's take a look at 10 of the most memorable roles Christopher Eccleston has brought to life on the small and big screen since 2005, starting with a thought-provoking and disturbing tale that many fans may have missed. As always, be aware that spoilers lie ahead.
