Let's just forget the character existed at all. For all three Iron Man 3 trailers and the first part of the movie itself, fans got the Mandarin they wanted: a cold-blooded terrorist play to perfection by Ben Kingsley. And then they got Trevor Slattery (collective groan). Simply put, this was a gamble that did not pay off. The film went for comedy and angered a lot of fans in the process. Marvel all but acknowledged this blunder with its One-Shot All Hail The King, which basically said there is another, real Mandarin out there somewhere. An Iron Man versus Mandarin showdown that had Iron Man's technology facing off against the powers of the ten rings would have been epic, with Tony forced to confront abilities he doesn't full understand. Instead of this, you got Trevor Slattery. This is something you, as well as Marvel, want to forget.
