Well look who's suddenly back in the game. Not content with having unleashed their entire plan of action up through 2020 including the current cycle of superhero films' first pictures lead solely by a woman and a person of colour Warner Bros have readied the big guns for their next big push after next 2016's Batman V Superman. Following the Dawn Of Justice, which is set to introduce not only the Dark Knight but also a bunch of other heroes to the Man Of Steel universe brought about by Zack Snyder, the DC Cinematic Universe will be similarly plump with bad guys. In August of that same year audiences will be thrilling at the prospect of Suicide Squad, a team of C-list supervillains doing covert operations for the government. C-list supervillains doesn't make for a C-list movie, necessarily. The Suicide Squad comic books have an especially rich history, with a much darker and more brutal outlook than their superhero bretheren. David Ayer, writer and director of morally ambiguous crime dramas like Training Day and End Of Watch has been picked to helm the film, and he's a perfect fit: Suicide Squad is a more edgy, serious and action-packed film. Plus it's entirely staffed by psychopaths. Psychopaths that are due to be played by some of the biggest stars working in Hollywood today, based on the cast list released this week: Warner must be flashing some serious cash to get the likes of Tom Hardy, Oscar winner Jared Leto (his full name) and Will Smith on board... But who even are this ragtag bunch of losers and misfits? Is Jai Courtney really playing somebody called Captain Boomerang? And what exactly is Margot Robbie out of Neighbours and (to a somewhat greater extent) The Wolf Of Wall Street doing in it? Here are the ten things you need to know about Suicide Squad. And those answers will make up some of that.
