6. People saying the word €˜zombie€™ when talking about zombies

In werewolf films people use the word €˜werewolf€™. In supernatural films characters use the word €˜ghosts€™. But in virus films about undead uprisings, no one uses the word €˜zombie€™. Even in The Walking Dead comics and TV show, they€™re called €˜biters€™, €˜roamers€™ or €˜walkers€™. Zombies are sometimes even given ironic euphemism-type labels, or not named at all. So what€™s going on? We know they€™re zombies, guys, it says so on the poster! It€™s genuinely a mystery why almost every zombie movie is set in a world where zombies have not been part of pop culture for about 50 years. In Shaun of the Dead the z-word is used, but quickly discarded. Maybe filmmakers think their film won€™t be scary or taken €˜seriously€™ if they drop the z-bomb?
