After months of anticipation and a certain potato quality, incomplete leak landing online the day prior, the official first trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home has finally dropped.

And it would be quite the understatement to say that the hype machine has left the station - the gonzo three-minute trailer does a fantastic job teasing what's sure to be one of the most ambitious and fan service-heavy superhero movies of recent years.

For starters, the trailer confirmed that No Way Home will indeed be a live-action Spider-Verse movie, and while it sensibly held back from confirming some of the most anticipated casting rumours, it left one hell of an impression as fans count down the days until its December 17 release.

The lengthy trailer naturally left fans excitedly scrubbing through every last frame in the pursuit of both Easter eggs and clues which might suggest the precise direction the movie's story is going.

Having pored over the trailer with a fine tooth comb, these are the 10 major takeaways that might've passed you by, and which you absolutely, positively need to know about...

10. Steve Ditko

The trailer kicks off with a simple but neat Easter egg paying homage to the late, great comic book artist and writer Steve Ditko, who along with Stan Lee co-created both Spider-Man and Doctor Strange.

While Peter (Tom Holland) is pouring his heart out to MJ (Zendaya), keep your eyes on the far wall behind them in the wide shot of the roof, and you might notice graffiti which reads the name "Ditko."

It's a fitting tribute to a man without whom this movie wouldn't even exist, even if Ditko has stated his indifference about movie adaptations of his work in the past, due to apparently receiving no money whatsoever from the Spider-Man films. Awkward.
