7. This Was The Original Darth Maul Design

Concept designer Iain McCaig was tasked with creating Darth Maul's look, with George Lucas requesting to see, "a figure from [his] worst nightmare."

McCraig settled on a pallid, washed-out grimace with red ribbons descending from its head, which Lucas deemed too terrifying for kids, so McCraig went back to the drawing board and eventually came up with the financial Rorschach-style red-and-black design.

It's safe to say that Maul would've been a distinctly different (and much scarier) character if that original design had won out, but the movie's box office grosses would've probably been negatively affected by all those screaming kids.
