4. He Actually Survived The Phantom Menace

That's right, despite Lucas' insistence that Darth Maul was unambiguously killed off in The Phantom Menace, he changed his mind and resurrected him for the Clone Wars TV series, appearing in six episodes in 2012 and 2013.

So, how did he survive? It's explained that as he fell down the shaft, he managed to grab a vent, using his sheer Force-fueled hatred of Obi-Wan to survive and eventually ending up with cybernetic legs (despite, you know, a good chunk of his stomach getting sliced clean off, too).

Yes, it's absolutely ridiculous, but once you get over the absurdity of it all, Maul's tenure on The Clone Wars and more recently Star Wars Rebels has actually been pretty damn entertaining.
