7. He Once Failed His Driving Test For Driving Too Safely

Despite being born in London, England, Rickman's frequent appearance in big budget, Hollywood films meant he spent a lot of time in the USA, specifically California. It was during these extensive visits that he decided to pursue a Californian driving license.

Anyone from the UK who has subsequently driven in America knows how dramatic a difference the experience is, so it's understandable Rickman might have hit a few speed bumps (as it were). Nevertheless, his reason for failing his first driving test is particularly hilarious. During his test, Rickman was failed for driving too cautiously through a green light. Of all the many ways to fail a driving assessment, driving through a green light is quite brilliant.
