6. The Brothel Scene In Vol. 2 Featured Real Prostitutes
There's never a better way to make a film feel authentic than to actually film scenes in a real location featuring real people. You'd think there would at least be some kind of limit on a statement like that, but Tarantino went as far as to film the scene - in which Beatrix visits an old mentor of Bill's for information - in an actual brothel. Granted, the mentor in question - Esteban Vihaio - is a retired pimp, but while the two characters are conversing, the women seen in the background are actual prostitutes. One can only imagine how off-putting it must have been for the film's actors to perform scenes within an actual brothel - especially if filming took place during opening hours. The scene was apparently the last one filmed before completion of both films, so it wouldn't be a long shot to say that the film's crew decided to save some of the budget by filming on location rather than building an entire set for what is only a few minutes of dialogue in Vol. 2 itself. Whatever the reason, you definitely can't fault Tarantino on his desire for authenticity.
