What Is It?: C'mon, who hasn't heard of Lego? The famed line of construction toys that are routinely swallowed by children too young to play with them (i.e. me circa 1990)... And It's Weird Because...?: It absolutely shouldn't work, and yet the first teaser trailer released for the movie, showing Batman helping to save the Lego world, looks absolutely hilarious. With directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord - the masterminds behind both Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and 21 Jump Street - at the helm, there's every chance for this to be a rare adaptation of an unlikely property that really hits the spot. Most impressive to me is that the film has the look and feel of stop-motion despite being rendered with CGI; this is an intentional choice to preserve the organic feel of Lego rather than make it seem too slick and impractical. Needless to say, this is one instance that might actually work...
