10 Times Horror Movie Directors Gave INSANE Performances As Actors
10. Osgood Perkins - The Monkey
After the deeply disturbing Longlegs, Osgood Perkins went into the opposite direction for his next project, putting together a tongue-in-cheek horror called The Monkey. In this Stephen King adaptation, twin brothers find their lives changed forever after discovering a toy monkey that triggers horrific deaths each time it plays a drum solo.
Throughout the film, the titular villain uses its demonic power to slaughter its victims with bees, harpoon guns, and bowling balls.
With that in mind, it isn't much of a surprise to learn that Perkins' own character meets their maker in the most absurd way.
Perkins cast himself as the twins' uncle, Chip. Despite his brief appearance, he makes an impression since it's blatantly obvious he has no idea how to deal with children, even after he's tasked with looking after the boys.
However, we never get to see how Chip would've fared as the children's carer since he's trampled by 67 horses moments after being introduced, leaving his bloody remains looking like "somebody drop-kicked a cherry pie".
