Rambo: The Force of Freedom has the distinction of being the first R-rated movie to have been adapted into a children's cartoon.

Of all the 1980s movies to turn into an animated series, how they landed on Rambo is anyone's guess. Even though G.I. Joe cartoon of the early 1980s was a stonking success, it doesn't necessarily mean you turn a movie about a Vietnam war veteran suffering from PTSD into something similar (but try telling capitalism that).

Rambo: The Force of Freedom actually started off as a mini-series consisting of five episodes, usually following Rambo facing off against the dastardly forces of S.A.V.A.G.E, before getting renewed into a daily cartoon that ran for a staggering 65 episodes. These days, that's essentially three seasons' worth of content.
