10 Tiresome Actors Who’ve Done Nothing New In The Last Ten Years

By Alex Leadbeater /

1. Will Smith

What He Was Doing Ten Years Ago: Wrongly thinking he was the biggest star in the world. When Will Smith went into movies he was already a well known face thanks to the incredibly nineties Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air. But he didn€™t capitalise on it nowhere near as well as he could have. Unlike other late nineties stars, he didn€™t have a major, career defining film; Brad Pitt had Fight Club, Leonardo DiCaprio had Titanic, Smith had Independence Day and Men In Black €“ good, but not great. That didn€™t stop him crowing himself the biggest star in the world. Still, he was young and was a minor box office draw €“ I€™d let him have it. What He€™s Doing Now: Wrongly thinking he is the biggest star in the world. Now it€™s getting irritating. In an interview with Empire Magazine to promote After Earth, Smith said the following quote about his son Jaden€™s childhood woes, €œYour father€™s the biggest movie star in the world, you€™re € in this extreme shadow.€ WHAT?! I€™m sorry, but how can anyone like such a self centred person who thinks a six year old plot neutering dystopian sci-fi (I Am Legend), a five year old character neutering superhero satire that forgot the satire (Hancock) and one of last years worst blockbusters, a franchise neutering mess that left laughs at the door (MIB 3) are the latest output of the world€™s biggest movie star. Hopefully After Earth will prove that Smith isn€™t the immortal box office draw the media claims he is (or at least that Shyamalan€™s poison outweighs it). He has (or is it had) the capability to be the world€™s biggest star, but needs to actually do a bit more starring. Don€™t worry for him though €“ he seems to doing a good job of living through his kids. Got any more past it actors? Disagree with any of these choices? Head down to the comments and have you (hopefully civil) say.
