10 Toho Kaiju Who Need To Appear In The MonsterVerse After Godzilla Vs. Kong
10. Jet Jaguar
Despite only have a single appearance, in the 1973 film Godzilla
vs. Megalon, Jet Jaguar is still a very popular addition to Toho’s Godzilla
franchise. His design is heavily based on that of Ultraman, another Toho
property about an alien superhero who comes to defend the earth with a variety
of different ‘Ultra Men’. Jet Jaguar is slightly different, being a heroic
robot created by a scientist named Goro Ibuki.
In Godzilla vs. Megalon, the Seatopians attempt to take control of Jet Jaguar and use him to guide their kaiju, Megalon, on his rampage. However, Ibuki is able to regain control of Jet Jaguar and use the robot to convince Godzilla to participate in the fight against Megalon. During the final battle, Jet Jaguar is able to attain free will and grows himself to kaiju size in order to face both Megalon and Gigan with Godzilla, an endeavour in which they are ultimately successful.
While Jet Jaguar might not seem to be the best fit for the
MonsterVerse, being a product of a goofier era of Toho productions, he has long
been a fan favourite addition to the Godzilla franchise. Having the heroic
robot be constructed by Monarch to aid Godzilla against whatever kaiju threats
are lurking in the future of the franchise would be the best way to introduce
Jet Jaguar to the MonsterVerse.
