And Jennifer Kent's incredibly disturbing 2014 psychological horror The Babadook certainly has you covered in the primal roar department. In fact, there's a moment in that picture when Essie Davis' Amelia Vanek, a widow who finds herself having to protect her child from the titular monster, lets out a gigantic 11-second scream.

But don't be fooled into thinking this was a combination of special effects or any other movie magic, folks. That was very much Davis letting out one hell of a long sound as Amelia confronted the supernatural creature late on.

In fact, the actor went so far when unleashing that impressive shriek, it was eventually revealed (via The Guardian) that she ended up losing her voice for a whole three days in the wake of getting that spine-tingling scene in the can.

So, not only is Amelia's epic scream at The Babadook here actually 100% real, it was so raw and authentic that it resulted in the actor being completely without her own voice for half a week in the aftermath.
