How this film is so under appreciated really is beyond me. The story is extremely poignant and realistic yet also hilarious and heartwarming. This is a fantastic achievement given that the film is about a young man who finds out he has a rare type of cancer and may not live for much longer. The way that Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen present the reality of friendship under such circumstances is truly amazing. What is even more amazing than that is a majority of the scenes are played for laughs and they succeed brilliantly. 50/50 shouldn't be classified as a dark comedy just because it features funny scenes related to cancer but it definitely has a sharp comedic tone that runs through most of the plot.
