10 Unmade Comic Book Movies That Could Have Been Awesome

8. The Wachowski's Plastic Man

Back in 1995, long before they revolutionized blockbuster cinema with The Matrix, the Wachowskis had written the script for a potential adaptation of little-known superhero Plastic Man, a character whose abilities are pretty self-explanatory. Given the duo's penchant for pushing the boundaries of visual effects and ability to craft unique action sequences, the pairing made sense from a stylistic standpoint at least.

For directors roundly criticized for filling their movies with pseudo-philisophical nonsense, on-the-nose allegories and a severe lack of levity, the siblings describing Plastic Man as 'the closest script to a comedy we'll write' should probably be taken with a pinch of salt, as they reportedly found the idea of the character p*ssing liquid plastic to be hilarious.

Plastic Man's adventures have always leaned more heavily into slapstick territory, and it would be fascinating to see how the usually humorless Wachowskis would have handled the material. With a lead character that can shape his body into literally anything, cutting-edge CGI and the sheer camp of it all, the unrealized production could have been a riotous blast of blockbuster entertainment if they pulled it off but at the bare minimum it would have been really bloody weird.
