10 Unmade Joss Whedon Films That Sound Awesome

8. Batman

Sometimes it seems like there's few people in Hollywood who haven't had a crack at the Dark Knight. Before Christopher Nolan got his claws of €œrealism€ into Batman, no less than Darren Aronofsky was planning an even more back-to-basics reimagining. And somewhere between the two was Joss Whedon's take on a rebooted Caped Crusader. Whedon got as far as writing a script for a potential new Batman film, one which he claims had a very similar €œvibe€ to what Nolan eventually came up with. Eager to introduce new elements to the mythos, the writer devised a different training regime for Bruce Wayne, and a new villain who was €œmore of a 'Hannibal Lector' type€. Whedon himself admitted that his take was a lot less epic, with more time spent on a young Bruce Wayne who goes a bit morbid and brooding as a result of his parents' murder. So it sounds like maybe things skewed a little closer to Gotham than Batman Begins, but if anybody could have made that work, it would've been Whedon.
