10 Unused Superhero Movie Designs That Are Better Than What We Got

1. Doomsday

And finally, it turns out that Warner Bros have been sitting on Doomsday designs for years. Tim Burton had been developing a version of the monstrous menace for use in his Superman Lives film (which was ultimately cancelled after a lengthy development process, and Bryan Singer€™s Superman Returns got made instead). Kerry Gamill drew out an early design for Burton, with Doomsday having his arms covered a la the comic books, a massive hunchback, a screaming face, hulking shoulders, distorted muscles and disproportionately little legs. It€™s an eye-catching design, that could have made for a grotesquely great screen villain once it was eventually brought to the screen. But instead, Zack Snyder has ignored these existing ideas and botched together a CGI Doomsday instead; one that looks like a rehashed version of Marvel€™s Abomination from 2008€™s The Incredible Hulk. It€™s just a big grey mess with laser eyes, by all accounts. Maybe the CGI will improve by the time the film comes out, but at the moment it looks like Snyder€™s Doomsday is set to be much less interesting than the initial Gamill designs that Burton was working with all those years ago. It just goes to show that a big CGI budget is no substitute for unique ideas and strong imaginations. Which unused superhero movie design is your favourite? Let us know in the comments€
