8. The Incredibles 2

Between 1995 and 2010, the only sequels Pixar had ever made were Toy Story parts two and three. The animation giants have shown an increasing willingness to go back to the well, as since then they've completed the Cars trilogy and created prequels to Monsters, Inc. and Finding Nemo. Next summer's follow-up to The Incredibles, one of the studio's most beloved efforts ever, could be the most highly-anticipated yet.

After Tomorrowland turned out to be a bust, Brad Bird finally returned to the Pixar fold to work on the sequel he'd been considering for over a decade. As one of the best animated movies of the 21st Century, The Incredibles 2 comes burdened with incredibly high expectations.

With the main cast and major parts of the creative team all returning, the ingredients are there for the movie to be great. However, plenty of long-delayed sequels have failed to live up to the standards set by their predecessors and if The Incredibles 2 sticks too close to the template of the original and fails to deliver a fresh spin on the formula, then the end result could be more Cars 2 than Finding Dory.
