10 Upcoming Horrors We Can't Believe Are Happening

10. The Blair Witch Project

The Blair Witch Project was a tour de force, earning a whopping $250 million on a dirt-cheap budget. The uber-successful folk-horror is also directly responsible for revolutionising the found footage genre, laying the groundwork for similar indies, like Paranormal Activity and [REC].

In theory, The Blair Witch Project should've been a powerhouse franchise that cranked out sequels, prequels, and spin-offs. Instead, it had two underwhelming follow-ups that failed to live up to the one that started it all.

Though it looked like The Blair Witch Project had its day in the sun, it hasn't bowed out just yet. In 2022, Lionsgate set to work on a Blair Witch reimagining for streaming services, with original directors Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez returning as producers. It was later announced that Lionsgate was joining forces with Blumhouse, diminishing any skepticism surrounding the project.

Although the found-footage genre has been thriving for decades, nobody was exactly pining for a Blair Witch Project revival. But at the same time, we can't help being a little bit curious, considering the Blair Witch creators and Blumhouse are involved in this upcoming feature.
