It's always nice when an actor publicly denounces a remake for everybody to see - especially when it's an actor from the original film. Sutherland starred as the lead - alongside Julie Christie - in Nicolas Roeg's nightmarish, sexually-charged meditation on losing a child, which took place in an eerie, fog-covered Venice during the down season. Don't Look Now is the very definition of a movie that should never be remade; its status as a horror tour-de-force (and as one of the best British films of all-time) ensures such a thing. There is very little chance that a remake, no matter how well put-together it might be, could capture the greatness of the original movie. But try telling that to StudioCanal. "Its just people wanting profit, trying to profit off the back of Nicolas Roeg, and something thats very beautiful," Sutherland went on to say. "Its shameful. They should be ashamed of themselves. Take the title of remake literally and avert your gaze when it's released.
