10 Upcoming Movie Roles That Are Completely Miscast

10. Sherlock Holmes/John Watson (Will Ferrell/John C. Reilly) - Holmes And Watson

Both Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly have plenty of comedic hits and misses between them, so it’s normal to feel mildly apprehensive when approaching a funny movie featuring either one of them.

Their comedy typically revolves around taking everyday situations and heightening them to a ridiculous degree - Daddy’s Home’s stepfather/stepchild relationship, Step Brothers’ arrested development - but Holmes and Watson isn’t an everyday scenario.

The two title characters are brilliant men with bucketloads of intuition and intellect, and to turn them into a pair of idiots just so Ferrell and Reilly can fill their shoes just feels wrong.

Holmes and Watson could easily be a drama with strong comedic elements - the BBC show does that superbly - but a silly Will Ferrell comedy with fart jokes and other crude gags? Ferrell’s movies can be funny, but here, he and Reilly are going to forcefully turn the title characters into a pair of bumbling idiots, and that’s just not what they should be.
