10 Upcoming Movies About To Be Delayed
The historic SAG-AFTRA strike is bringing Hollywood to a stand still.
Big, big changes are coming to Hollywood and the entire movie industry. Weeks since the beginning of the Writers Guild of America strike which floored a huge portion of the business, the Screen Actors Guild has now moved to join the picket line in a strike of their own.
For the first time in 60 years, both the writers and the actors of America are striking at the same time. While many, many projects were forced to halt at the beginning of May when the writers strike began, there were a handful that continued production.
However, with the 160,000 members of SAG-AFTRA agreeing to a strike of their own, even these will be forced to shut down. The stars of Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer even walked out of the movie's UK premiere when the strike began, with movies currently in production meeting the same fate.
Though not all of these movies have been confirmed to be shutting down as of yet, with actors unable to step in front of a camera, they are all likely to be hit with imminent major delays.
10. Mortal Kombat 2
Filming for Mortal Kombat 2 began in June in Australia, with the bulk of the cast returning for the sequel - though arguably the most exciting development was the casting of Karl Urban as Johnny Cage.
However, it seems that fans will have to hold off on seeing The Boys' star take on yet another popular role with the strikes forcing an immediate halt on production.
Fans of the franchise will at least have the upcoming Mortal Kombat 1 video game release to keep them going, but in all likelihood, this will only heighten anticipation for the movie that may be delayed for some time yet.
