10 Upcoming Movies Spoiled By Their Trailers

Stuffing a film into three minutes or less, because why the hell not.

Paramount PicturesRemember back when trailers would actually tease the movies they were advertising? These days, they have a tendency to just display everything the film has to offer in one go, like an overeager toddler showing off to their parents. Some of the greatest movie advertising campaigns have revolved around their vague, ambiguous trailers. For example, over half of the original Alien trailer showed no actual footage from the movie at all, instead opting to just put across the horrifying mood and feel of the movie it was advertising. That's not to say that there hasn't been some brilliant trailers this year, that manage to get an audience hyped without revealing too much. The Guardians of the Galaxy trailers have been remarkably constrained for superhero flicks, and the early trailers for Godzilla were also fantastic. This list takes a look at ten of this year's biggest movie trailers that made us feel like we'd already seen most of the film they were advertising.

10. Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes

Paramount PicturesRelease Date: July 11 (USA) July 17 (UK) Set for a release early next month, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is set to continue the primate badassery that its predecessor started. The sequel sees Caesar's band of genetically modified apes in a confrontation against a group of human survivors. The trailer is a good 'un, but it does reveal more than we'd like. Much of the key buildup is revealed, including the tension between Caesar and another alpha ape. The inevitable final confrontation is also extensively shown, although that's not to say it was ever going to be much of a surprise when watching this sequel.
