10 Upcoming Movies That Could Massively Overperform At The Box Office
10. Zombieland: Double Tap
Zombieland was, in many ways, the little movie that could.
Released in 2009, the acclaimed comedy-horror went on to gross $102 million worldwide, quadrupling its budget on its way to becoming the highest-grossing zombie film of all time (at the time). All being well, the upcoming sequel should have no problem matching its predecessor's success.
That being said, there's a real chance that Zombieland: Double Tap could also end up subverting our expectations.
Make no mistake about it, fans of the 2009 film have been waiting a whole decade for this, so you can rest assured that they'll flock to see it when it finally hits the big screen. Moreover, during that time, Zombieland has gone on to become a cult-classic, finding new (after)life in home media and gaining a horde of new fans in the process.
Throw in the fact that Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin are all returning, and the fact that Eisenberg and Stone have since become Hollywood headliners in the decade since the previous film, and Columbia could have a real show-stopper on their hands with this one.
It's also released in the run-up to Halloween so that will undoubtedly give it a boost.
