10. Joker

The Joker origin story, set to come out in October of 2019, may seem like an odd choice to have on this list because of the abundant amount of positive buzz it keeps getting. Between people comparing Joaquin Phoenix's wildness to Heath Ledger's and just the absolute hype for the trailers - why would we put this one on the list, you might ask?

The plot appears to be following a bit of the premise of his origins from the popular Batman: The Killing Joke - the Joker is a failed comedian, or in this case a clown, who has his life fall apart around him and he breaks, mentally. Seems fairly cut and dry. That was strike one for many fans who were upset the movie was even being made.

But there's been a lot of criticism about the way the Joker and his mother in the film are looking to be portrayed. The Joker isn't just a guy down on his luck who reaches a breaking point and snaps - no, he's a dude struggling with mental and physical disabilities which cause many of his problems. More than that, his mother - a major source of direction in the film - also suffers from a psychotic condition.

The criticism is summed up pretty well with this quote from twitter user @camethedawn: "Too many ppl already try to draw false connections between criminality and disability. This scenario is the last thing the world needs right now."
