Nicolas Cage sure does have a number of tantalising projects on the horizon, but not one quite as impressively unhinged as the insane meta-comedy The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.

Cage will play a "fictional" version of himself who, in the face of bankruptcy, accepts $1 million to attend a super-fan's (Pedro Pascal) party.

But when things get dangerous, Cage is forced to embody his most iconic movie personas as he helps a government agent (Tiffany Haddish) take down a European crime syndicate.

Somehow this is a movie which has actually been written and is due to go into production shortly.

And for fans of Nicolas Cage, it's sure to be pure catnip, giving the actor a grand stage to go totally off-the-rails and pay homage to his own rich cinematic history.

Whether it turns out a meta triumph or a self-indulgent trainwreck, there's no way it doesn't catch the attention of anyone with even a passing interest in Cage's body of work.
